About This Ritual

Liberation of Ancestors

Narayan Nagbali is a sacred three-day Vedic ritual performed exclusively at Trimbakeshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. This powerful ceremony is undertaken for the liberation of ancestral souls (Pitru Dosh Nivaran) and the removal of curses arising from the suffering of departed ancestors.

The ritual combines two distinct ceremonies: 'Narayan Bali' for the peace of souls who died unnaturally, and 'Nagbali' for removing the sin of killing a serpent (Nag Dosha). Together, they provide complete ancestral peace.

✅ Can be performed even if:

The person's father is alive, or the person is unmarried. There is no restriction based on marital status or the father being alive.

What You Need to Know

🕐 Arrival Timing

Devotees must arrive by 5:00 PM the day before the pooja begins. If you arrive after 10:00 PM, you will need to arrange your own stay and dinner for that night.

👕 New Clothes Required

New clothes are required for the pooja. Men: dhoti, uparane (upper cloth), baniyan, and underpants. Women: saree and blouse in any color except green or black. Keep costs moderate — new clothes are readily available locally in Trimbakeshwar.

📝 Ancestor Names & Gotras Required

Bring a written list of ancestor names and gotras across the following relations: father, grandfather, great-grandfather (paternal line), mother's side, uncles, aunts, in-laws, and guru.

If a male ancestor's name is unknown, use: Keshav, Madhav, or Narayan. If a female ancestor's name is unknown, use: Ganga, Yamuna, or Saraswati. If a gotra is unknown, use: Kashyap.

🚗 Parking

Park your vehicle in a government or private parking area before arriving at the house. The lanes near the house are narrow. Proceed on foot from the parking area.
